Lapeer County Pheasants Forever truly is fortunate when it comes to our youth hunt program. We actually have two youth hunt coordinators, and two pheasant preserves in the area interested in donating time, space and birds. Our youth are very fortunate to have these resources. Yvan Giralty and Dave Lamb are Lapeer County PF youth coordinators. This chapter has run two hunts per year. A fall hunt and a winter hunt. Both hunts offer vastly different things such as hunting in snow, heavy clothes or dealing with heat and humidity when hunting. Learning how to cross fences safely is not a given instinct, so there is plenty of opportunities to teach during these special days. There doesn't ever seem to be a lack of volunteers to run dogs or spot for the kids. It is a very well respected program in the area.
