Pheasants Forever is a non-profit conservation organization founded in 1982 made up of 90,000 members throughout North America. Members have developed habitat on over 1 million acres of land in which all wildlife thrives. It provides vital nesting and winter cover in an environment that is quickly changing due to urban sprawl. Approximately 550 Chapters are completing over 25,000 projects annually. This is accomplished fundraising activities by individual chapters in which 100 percent of the net profits are distributed locally in seed which translates to nesting, food plot and winter cover.
Each individual chapter is required to hold an annual banquet in which funds are raised from auctions and raffles. Many community businesses and organizations gladly become involved and donate goods and services. A national banquet package is also available for purchase by individual chapters which include wildlife prints by nationally recognized artists. Pheasants Forever is also a leader in conservation education. 4000 educators nationwide teach concepts of conservation founded by Aldo Leopold. In 1948 he wrote The Sand County Alanac.
This book quickly became the standard in conservation circles and is still sound in principles to this day. Many chapters are active in PF's Leopold Project, which instucts teachers who then pass these principles on to younger generations.
